What it means

Change My Mind comes from a photograph posted on February 16, 2018, by podcaster Steven Crowder, who sat behind a folding table at Texas Christian University with a sign reading Male Privilege Is a Myth, Change My Mind. The picture promoted a campus debate segment, but within two days people were editing the sign and the format escaped its politics entirely. Today it is a general-purpose way to state an opinion with theatrical confidence: the speaker sits relaxed with a coffee, daring the world to argue while clearly not planning to budge. The gap between the open invitation and the obvious stubbornness is what makes it funny.

When to use it

  • Posting a hot take and daring your followers to argue
  • Stating something obviously true as if it were controversial
  • Making a deliberately absurd claim with total confidence
