What it means
Trade Offer went viral on TikTok in late January 2021 through creator bradeazy, who appears in a suit with hands clasped, flanked by text reading trade offer, then two labeled boxes: I receive and you receive. The format is a mock business proposal, and its power is the total asymmetry the creator is allowed to propose: I receive your weekend, you receive my presence. It spread from TikTok to Twitter within days, becoming the standard way to frame any lopsided deal as a professional negotiation. Captions work best when the I receive side is enormous and the you receive side is insultingly small, or when the offer is technically fair but emotionally outrageous. The clasped hands sell the sincerity of the scam.
When to use it
- Proposing a hilariously lopsided deal as a formal negotiation
- Mocking agreements where one side clearly loses
- Framing an unreasonable request as a business opportunity
