Privacy policy

This explains what MemeSkill collects. In short: you do not need an account to search templates or make memes, and the editor runs in your browser. You only sign in for AI captions and Pro. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies at this time.

What stays in your browser

When you add a caption to a template, the image is drawn on your own device. The captions you type in the editor and the picture you download or copy are not uploaded to us.

What we collect

• Your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture, and we store them together with the date of your last sign-in. We do not get access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.
• AI captions. The description you type is sent to our servers and on to Anthropic, which runs the Claude model that writes the captions. We do not store the description or the captions. We only keep a count of how many AI captions your account has used each day, to apply the daily limit.
• Payments. Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by our reseller Waffo (Waffo Pancake), who acts as the merchant of record. Your card details go to Waffo and its payment processors, never to us. We pass your email address to Waffo when you start checkout, and we receive your subscription status and a customer identifier back.
• Searches. We keep the text of searches (shortened, with punctuation removed) and how many results it found, so we can add templates people are looking for. We do not attach searches to your name, account or IP address.
• Technical data from our hosts. Our website is hosted on Vercel and our application programming interface and images are served through Cloudflare. They process your IP address and request details to deliver pages, block abuse and limit the number of requests.
• Emails you send us. If you contact us, we keep the message and your address to reply and to handle copyright requests.

Cookies

When you sign in we set one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is strictly necessary for the sign-in to work. Visitors who do not sign in get no cookies, and we do not use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the services that help us run the site:

• Google, to sign you in.
• Anthropic, to write AI captions.
• Waffo, to take payments and manage subscriptions.
• Vercel and Cloudflare, to host the site, the API and the images.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Your account and daily AI counts: until you delete your account.
• Sign-in sessions: up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
• Payment and subscription records: as long as tax and accounting rules require. These contain an internal identifier and the subscription dates, not your name or profile picture.

Your choices

You can delete your account yourself on the account page. If you have an active Pro subscription, cancel it first from the same page. For anything else, such as a copy of your data, email support@meme-skill.com.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from younger children.

Changes

We will change the date above whenever this page changes.
