What it means

Boardroom Meeting Suggestion is a four-panel comic showing a boss asking his staff for ideas. Two employees offer predictable, profit-driven answers and are rewarded with nods, while the third proposes the obvious sensible solution and is thrown out the window in the final panel. The comic circulated through meme generator sites from around 2011 and became a fixture of the image-macro era. The template satirizes companies that ask for feedback and punish honesty, and it scales far beyond offices: any group that claims to want solutions while rejecting the real one fits. The last panel does all the work, so captions keep the sensible suggestion as plain and reasonable as possible for maximum comedic violence.

When to use it

  • Mocking companies that reject obviously good ideas
  • Joking about communities that punish honest answers
  • Captioning the fate of the person who tells the truth in a meeting
