What it means
No Yes is the compact two-panel preference format built from Drake's 2015 Hotline Bling music video: in the top panel he shields his face and turns away in disgust, and in the bottom panel he smiles and points in warm approval. The layout became one of the most used meme structures ever, because the grammar is effortless, no on the top option and yes on the bottom option, and the contrast is instantly readable even without captions. Users label the panels with the responsible choice they reject and the questionable choice they embrace, and the humor comes from how honestly and specifically the bottom option confesses to human nature. It works for sincere preferences, bad habits, and petty opinions with equal grace.
When to use it
- Preferring the fun option over the responsible one
- Rejecting the standard choice in favor of a questionable one
- Comparing two options with instant visual clarity
