What it means

Minor Mistake Marvin is an advice animal born on Reddit in October 2014, when a photo of a young boy staring blankly in front of a microwave containing a charred, smoking ramen cup, burned because he forgot the water, was posted with the title He just wanted some noodles. Three days later the image macro had a name and a format: top text sets up a routine task, bottom text reveals the tiny oversight that quietly ruined it. Marvin's niche among the advice animals is specific, he is not cursed by luck like Bad Luck Brian, he simply does the equivalent of microwaving ramen without water, which makes him the internet's patron saint of absent-minded, self-inflicted, low-stakes disasters.

When to use it

  • Confessing small everyday oversights with big consequences
  • Joking about forgetting an essential step in a simple task
  • Self-deprecating humor about absent-minded blunders
