What it means

I Bet He's Thinking About Other Women is a two-panel format built from a stock-style photograph of a couple in bed: the woman glances over with visible suspicion while the man lies on his back staring at the ceiling with profound intensity. The meme took off around 2017, and its formula is a perfect subversion: the top caption voices her assumption, and the bottom caption reveals what he is actually contemplating, which is never another woman but always something absurd, a shower thought, a historical mystery, a video game strategy, or whether penguins have knees. The gap between romantic suspicion and harmless cosmic nonsense is the joke, and it scales from mundane to philosophical without ever losing steam.

When to use it

  • Revealing the absurd thing men actually think about at night
  • Subverting suspicion with harmless cosmic nonsense
  • Sharing shower thoughts framed as midnight contemplation
