What it means
Feels Good is the contented face of Pepe the Frog, the character created by artist Matt Furie in his 2005 comic Boy's Club, wearing a soft, satisfied smile that says everything is finally right with the world. The phrase feels good man originated in the comic and spread through 4chan around 2008, splitting into a whole family of reactions with the sad variant feels bad man. The feels good template is reserved for small, earned pleasures: the first sip of coffee, sitting down after cleaning the house, the last bug fixed on a Friday. Pepe's gentle grin communicates a peaceful, unhurried contentment that more excitable reaction images cannot match, making it the internet's quiet moment of zen.
When to use it
- Savoring a small, earned pleasure
- Quiet satisfaction after everything finally works out
- Expressing peaceful contentment with a gentle grin
