What it means
Squidward Window uses a shot of Squidward Tentacles from SpongeBob SquarePants peering through his window blinds with a mixture of longing and resentment while SpongeBob and Patrick play outside. The frame became the definitive meme for watching other people enjoy something you are excluded from: the party you skipped, the event your friends attended without you, the fun everyone is having at work while you are on a call. The caption names the fun being observed, and Squidward's downtrodden eyes supply the exact blend of jealousy, self-pity, and stubborn refusal to join in. It is the internet's FOMO poster child, and it ages perfectly because everyone has been Squidward at the window.
When to use it
- Watching others have fun while being left out
- Joking about FOMO, remote work, or skipped events
- Enviously observing a good time from the outside
